In 2006 the Applied Sciences and Technologies department at ETHS decided to offer "Pathway to Engineering" the national pre-engineering program developed by Project Lead the Way (www.pltw.org). Principles of Engineering was our first course offered in the 2006-2007 school year. By the Spring of 2008, ETHS became a certified Project Lead the Way school which now allows students enrolled in the class the ability to receive college credit at engineering universities!
According to the PLTW website, students who take PLTW pre-engineering courses in high school:
- achieve significantly higher scores in reading, mathematics, and science.
- earn higher GPAs as college freshmen.
- are 5 to 10 times more likely to study engineering and technology.
Courses offered at ETHS:
-
Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) (course is open to freshman)
- Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)
- Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA)
